In tough economic times , when gas prices are through the roof, who would oppose such genius? Bringing back the streetcar as the center of life in Los Angeles is one of the most important things that could happen during these times.

Downtown Los Angeles-DESPITE THE HIGH HEAT AND THE STENCH MANY PEOPLE STILL came out to the October Neighborhood Watch Walk in Skid Row. JAn did make it for the beginning of the walk but she had to move on to a panel at USC. It was the most terrible of walks  I have been on since this was all initiated. The winter people are now beginning to come back to skid row from all over the country and the economic downturn seems to me, at this stage , show more people seeking the help of the non-profits downtown. With the reduction in the funding for the winter shelter programs that have already been made by the STATE and the local governments the non0profits downtown look to carry a heavier burden of servicing these people who are without homes, shelters or jobs.
